kalo ("we", "us", "our") operates the kalo mobile application (the "App"). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
Meal data you provide. When you log a meal, you may share photos, voice recordings, or barcode scans. These inputs are processed to extract nutritional information and are stored as part of your meal history.
Account information. If you create an account, we collect your email address and any profile details you choose to provide (e.g. dietary preferences, daily targets).
Device and usage data. We collect standard technical data such as device model, operating system version, app version, and general usage patterns. This helps us maintain and improve the App.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide nutrition tracking, meal logging, and personalised insights
- To process photos, voice, and barcodes into structured nutrition data
- To improve the accuracy and quality of our food recognition and analysis
- To send service-related communications (e.g. account verification)
- To diagnose technical issues and improve app performance
3. Camera, Microphone, and Photo Library
The App requests access to your camera, microphone, and photo library only when you choose to log a meal using those methods. We do not access these features in the background. You can revoke these permissions at any time through your device settings.
4. Third-Party Services
We may use third-party services for analytics, crash reporting, and food data enrichment. These services receive only the minimum data necessary to function. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest. Meal photos and voice recordings are processed and may be retained to provide your meal history. You can delete your account and associated data at any time from within the App.
6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it.

8. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by other means. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
